New Hasselt Festival Unites Creative Minds to Shape Fashion’s Future

A Fresh Platform in Hasselt

Next month, the city of Hasselt will host the inaugural Fashion & Design Hasselt, a four-day festival dedicated to exploring the future of fashion and design. With the theme “Blank Canvas,” the festival seeks to bring together designers, thinkers, and creators to imagine what lies ahead in these fields.

What to Expect

Throughout the event, prominent names from fashion and design will share their insights via talks, exhibitions, open studios, workshops, and pop-ups. Among the participants are Hannelore Knuts, Charlotte Adigéry, Toos Franken, Bram Kerkhofs, Lore Langendries, Colin van Eeckhout, Mitchel Elsen, Jordy Arthur and Souad Feriani. Beyond established figures, the festival also aims to support emerging talent by providing a platform for young creatives to launch their careers.

Venues & Programme Highlights

Most activities are free of charge and spread across Hasselt’s well-known locations. At the Fashion Museum, visitors will be able to discover two exhibitions, including Poster People, created especially for the festival. The Z33 Arts Institution will serve as the venue for talks, presentations, and meetings. One floor will be dedicated entirely to designers, while the café will function as a gathering place for visitors and participants.

Festival’s Place in Hasselt’s Identity

Mayor Steven Vandeput emphasized that Fashion & Design Hasselt is more than a one-off event. “With Fashion & Design Hasselt, we are consciously focusing on a strategic and structural offering that further puts our city on the map as a centre for fashion and design. This event is not a one-off attempt, but a permanent part of our city’s DNA.”

When & Where

The first edition of Fashion & Design Hasselt will take place from 23 to 26 October. For the full programme, visit: fashiondesign.hasselt.be.
