International Fashion Show Highlights

The annual International Fashion Show brought together forty-two students representing fifteen countries, each presenting outfits inspired by the styles of the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. The event blended fashion, cultural pride, and community spirit, creating one of the most engaging evenings of the year.

Fashion, Identity and Community

Organized by the student cultural groups on campus, the show highlighted the value of diversity and personal heritage. Participants described the experience as a chance to express who they are, share traditions with others, and connect through creativity. Many joined with hesitation but quickly gained confidence as the event progressed.

Highlights From the Runway

The stage was set with blue lighting and featured themed segments dedicated to each decade. Students showcased everything from bold 80s silhouettes to relaxed 90s streetwear and early 2000s pop-culture aesthetics. Between segments, guests enjoyed regional dishes and live performances, including dance numbers and vocal pieces that enriched the evening’s atmosphere.

“Rep Your Flag” Showcase

One of the most anticipated segments, “Rep Your Flag,” allowed students to present outfits connected to their cultural identity while carrying their national flags. Bright colors, traditional elements, and personal touches turned the runway into a global celebration of heritage.

Supporting Emerging Designers

The event also featured up-and-coming designers, including student-run brands and local creatives who infused their collections with contemporary street culture, graffiti influences, and artistic experimentation. Their participation added a professional touch to the show and offered students new perspectives on fashion as a career.

Students of All Years Take Part

Although many participants were upper-year students, first-year and second-year students also joined the runway. For some, it was their first time performing on stage, helping them build confidence and encouraging others to embrace their identity without fear.

A Tradition That Brings Students Together

The International Fashion Show has become a tradition that strengthens campus community. By celebrating culture, fashion, and individuality, the event reminds students that style can be a powerful form of expression—one that brings people together across backgrounds and experiences.
