Fashion Through the Ages Exhibit Preview

The Garden City Historical Society (TGCHS) invites guests to “Get your Gatsby on” for tonight’s Fashion Through the Ages Special Preview Reception, held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the TGCHS Museum, 109 Eleventh Street, Garden City.

A Night to Remember

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the A.T. Stewart Exchange, at the museum entrance, or by phone at 746-8900. Guests can enjoy light refreshments while exploring vintage garments that trace the evolution of 20th-century fashion.

Sponsors and Featured Speaker

The event is sponsored by Suzanne Weis of Compass Real Estate, also a TGCHS Board member. Featured speaker Marianna Garthwaite Klaiman, an independent textile scholar and former Sotheby’s specialist, will share insights into historical fabrics and design.

Special Highlights and Souvenirs

Visitors will tour the newly restored Lane Bedroom on the second floor and can purchase handmade ornaments and sachets created from antique lace and vintage textiles — beautiful mementos crafted by the Historical Society team.

A Tribute to The Great Gatsby

The exhibition celebrates The Great Gatsby’s 100th anniversary with fashion from 1910s–1960s, inspired by Long Island’s Gold Coast — the setting that influenced Fitzgerald’s timeless novel.
