Wes Gordon Honored at WashU Fashion Event

Washington University in St. Louis hosted a large fashion event on November 18, bringing together students, industry supporters and nearly 800 guests inside the historic Graham Chapel.

Wes Gordon Takes Center Stage

This year’s invited guest was Wes Gordon, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera. He joined a live conversation on stage, discussing his creative process, the evolution of his career and the realities of working in modern fashion. His insights drew strong interest from young designers who packed the venue.

Meeting Students and Reviewing Their Work

Earlier the same day, Gordon attended a luncheon with fashion-design students from across Missouri. He spent time reviewing their collections, offering critiques and sharing thoughtful advice about entering the industry. For many students, the opportunity to receive direct feedback from a major creative director was a rare milestone.

Official Recognition for His Contribution to Fashion

During the evening program, St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer issued a special proclamation naming November 18 as Wes Gordon Day in the city. The Saint Louis Fashion Fund also presented Gordon with its highest honor in recognition of his leadership and influence in fashion.

Supporting Emerging Talent in the Region

The event was part of an ongoing partnership between Washington University and the Saint Louis Fashion Fund, aimed at strengthening opportunities for young designers, small fashion businesses and regional creative communities. Each year the program helps raise funds and visibility for local talent while connecting students with global industry voices.
