Nicomede Talavera presented the “Sacred Journey” 2026 collection

Nicomede Talavera has re-entered the fashion scene with a renewed sense of direction, presenting his Fall 2026 coed collection titled “Sacred Journey.” Now working between London and Shanghai, the British Filipino designer framed the collection as a reflection of both spiritual and creative growth developed over the past three years.

“It means creating in my truth and creating with purpose,” said Talavera, a graduate of Central Saint Martins who first gained recognition more than a decade ago for reimagining men’s silhouettes through the lens of his multicultural background.

Following a period marked by personal and professional challenges, Talavera described Fall 2026 as “a natural progression,” shaped by his transcontinental lifestyle, his reconnection with the creative community in the Philippines, and practical knowledge gained through multiple consultancy projects. According to the designer, returning to the Philippines provided emotional and cultural grounding, particularly as he introduced womenswear for the first time. He noted that this support system was something he lacked while growing up in the U.K.

Shanghai, meanwhile, became central to the technical development of the collection. The city’s manufacturing ecosystem enabled experimentation with knitwear and the development of custom hardware for accessories, including belts, while maintaining accessible price points.

Visually, the collection drew inspiration from the still-life works of Filipino modernist artist Arturo Luz, specifically his “Boxes and Shells” series. Talavera translated these references into shell-based embellishments, incorporating mother-of-pearl and cowrie shell embroideries that aligned with the brand’s established design language. These details were paired with signature elements such as hook-and-eye fastenings, deconstructed collars, twisted plackets, angular lapels, and sock-like necklines.

The newly introduced women’s line was driven by an exploration of form and by the women who have influenced Talavera personally. The range included crinkled sheer tops, shorts, and skirts with pinch detailing, an oversized top finished with iridescent hand-sewn pin-tuck embroidery, as well as a series of dresses accompanied by sculptural headpieces defined by bold, geometric shapes.

With “Sacred Journey,” Talavera signaled a recalibrated chapter for his label, blending cultural reflection, technical refinement, and a deeper sense of purpose as he expands his vision across both menswear and womenswear.
