Miley Cyrus sharply responded to photographers on the red carpet

Miley Cyrus had a brief but pointed exchange with photographers while walking the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on January 3, after being told to remove her sunglasses.

Video from the event shows photographers loudly calling out “no sunglasses” as Cyrus posed for cameras. The singer responded directly, making it clear she didn’t appreciate the tone of the request.

“If you yell at me, I’m going to do the opposite,” Cyrus said. She then added, “I’ve known you for 20 years. You could just say, ‘Oh, I like your sunglasses,’ and I’ll take them off.”

After the exchange, Cyrus continued posing before eventually removing the sunglasses and holding them in her hand as she faced the cameras.

For the ceremony, Cyrus wore a sharply tailored black Tom Ford suit featuring a plunging neckline, paired with pointed heels and dark sunglasses that completed the look. She attended the event alongside her mother, Tish Cyrus, who was also dressed in black and wore sunglasses on the carpet.

The singer was honored during the evening with the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song “Dream as One,” featured in the soundtrack for Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The moment quickly drew attention online, with fans praising Cyrus for calmly asserting herself while maintaining control of the situation on the red carpet. The interaction underscored her confidence and willingness to push back against pressure, even in highly public settings.
