Vehicle City Fashion Week has begun in downtown Flint bringing a full schedule of fashion centered events to the city. The celebration is powered by Fashion Against Violence an organization dedicated to creative expression and community empowerment.
More Than a Fashion Showcase
The gathering offers more than runway looks. Each event is designed to support connection and positive impact within the Flint community. Designers models photographers and local artists come together to share their work and build a stronger creative culture in the city.
The Mission Behind Fashion Against Violence
Fashion Against Violence was created by designer Kala Anthony to honor the memory of her brother Antonio who lost his life to gun violence. Anthony transformed her grief into a movement that uplifts young talent and encourages nonviolent paths through fashion.
Bringing New York Inspiration to Flint
Anthony explains that Vehicle City Fashion Week was born from her desire to recreate the excitement of major fashion events in her hometown. She wanted to give Flint designers models and creatives the same kind of opportunity found at New York Fashion Week offering a platform to grow and shine within their own community.
