At SoHo’s new Chateau Royale, Chanel celebrated its Première Galon watch with an elegant candlelit dinner. Guests included ambassadors Sarah Pidgeon, Riley Keough, and friends of the house from film and fashion.
Sarah Pidgeon Embraces a New Role
“I hate being late, but traffic keeps testing me,” joked Sarah Pidgeon, Chanel’s newest watch and jewelry ambassador. Wearing a white shirt and black trousers, she evoked Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s effortless grace. “I’m usually a jeans-and-T-shirt girl, so this feels like exploring a new side of myself.”
Riley Keough on Time and Presence
Fellow ambassador Riley Keough shared her secret to staying present: “I leave my phone in the car and wear a watch.” The sleek black-lacquered Première Galon gleamed on her wrist. “I like to be punctual — it’s a sign of respect,” she said, smiling before hinting at her next film project.
Reinventing an Icon
Originally launched in 1987, the Première line was Chanel’s first women’s watch. The new Galon model updates it with a braided leather-and-gold bracelet and subtle diamond details. “It feels like wearing jewelry with meaning,” said Pidgeon. “Checking time on a watch is such a lost, chic ritual.”
Glamour, Music, and French Taste
Model Paloma Elsesser arrived glowing: “Usually I take two hours to get ready, but tonight I only needed 45 minutes — R&B and Janet Jackson help.”
Lucy Boynton, visiting from London, called Halloween in New York “the best” before returning home for the holidays.
Guests dined family-style on artichokes, escargot, and dry-aged steak, ending with champagne sorbet — a Paris-meets-Manhattan finale to a night of pure Chanel charm.
